Chimi Lhakhang
Chimi Lhakhang is a famous 15th-century Buddhist monastery perched on a prominent round hillock in the Lobesa valley of Punakha District, Bhutan. Built in 1499 by Ngawang Chogyal, the temple was constructed directly above the burial site of a ferocious demoness of Dochu La who was subdued by the legendary eccentric saint Drukpa Kunley, also known as the Divine Madman. Today, the monastery remains deeply steeped in spiritual power, local folklore, and intense supernatural tradition. Visitors and monks report strange unseen presences, phantom canine figures guarding the hillock, and inexplicable energetic shifts around the central stupa that encases the trapped demoness.
