    The Ancient Royal Tombs of Itsandra, situated in the coastal town of Itsandra mdjini on Grande Comore, represent the sacred burial grounds of the sultans of the historic Itsandra kingdom. Featuring carved coral-stone steles, domed tombs, and ancient prayer walls dating back to the 14th century, the site was the spiritual heart of royal power on Ngazidja. Local traditions hold that the tombs are protected by powerful ancestral jinn, with reports of glowing white apparitions, nighttime Quranic recitations, and phantom guardians.
