Al-Sakhir Palace
Al-Sakhir Palace is a grand Islamic royal palace standing majestically in the desert expanse of Sakhir in southern Bahrain. Built around 1870 and expanded in 1901 by Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, this historic palace served as a winter royal retreat, hunting lodge, and political council seat. Local desert residents, guards, and visitors speak of mysterious lights in the grand watchtowers, phantom horses galloping across outer dunes, and soft traditional music.
