    Nimtala Crematorium

    KolkataIndia1717 / 1827–Present

Nimtala Crematorium, historically known as Nimtala Burning Ghat, is one of the oldest, largest, and most sacred Hindu cremation grounds in India. Situated along Strand Bank Road on the banks of the sacred Hooghly River (Ganga) in North Kolkata, the ghat has served as a primary cremation site for over three centuries. Renowned as a holy place where souls attain moksha (liberation from the cycle of rebirth), Nimtala also holds a formidable place in Indian paranormal lore due to secret night-time Aghori rituals performed during Kali Puja, disembodied specters, and intense occult traditions.
