Lake Kariba & Kariba Dam
Lake Kariba is one of the world's largest artificial lakes by volume, formed in the late 1950s by damming the violent Kariba Gorge along the Zambezi River. Rooted in the living mythology of the Valley Tonga people, the lake and dam wall are famously haunted by Nyami Nyami, the river god whose wrath unleashed catastrophic floods during building.
