    Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon, is a stupendous desert wilderness of towering sandstone mountains, narrow slot canyons, and ancient petroglyphs in southern Jordan. Inhabited continuously since prehistoric times by Nabataeans and nomadic Bedouin tribes, the desert served as a strategic hub during the Arab Revolt led by T.E. Lawrence. Deeply embedded in regional Arab mythology, the vast silence of Wadi Rum is believed by local Bedouins to be the domain of desert Jinn, shapeshifting Ghuls, and restless ancient spirits.
