King's Bastion
King's Bastion is a massive stone artillery fortress located on the western sea wall of Gibraltar. Designed by General Sir Robert Boyd and completed in 1773, it played a pivotal, heroic role in defending Gibraltar during the Great Siege (1779–1783) against French and Spanish floating batteries. Later converted into Gibraltar's main electric power station before being restored as a heritage site, the bastion's vaulted casemates are legendary for sightings of fallen gunners and disembodied artillery fire.
