Today, the extensive stone ruins, historic desert cemetery, and restored underground bakery evoke a haunted atmosphere filled with tales of early pioneers, Afghan camel drivers, and restless spirits of the outback.

Following the mine closures in 1914, the town was largely abandoned, turning into a preserved historic ghost town.
