    Farina Ghost Town

    FarinaAustralia1878–1980s

Farina is an eerie outback ghost town situated at the edge of the Strzelecki Desert along the historic Oodnadatta Track in South Australia. Surveyed in 1876 under the name 'Government Gums' and later renamed Farina (Latin for flour) in the optimistic hope of becoming a major wheat-growing hub, the town succumbed to severe drought, dust storms, and economic isolation. Today, the extensive stone ruins, historic desert cemetery, and restored underground bakery evoke a haunted atmosphere filled with tales of early pioneers, Afghan camel drivers, and restless spirits of the outback.

    Walhalla Ghost Town

    WalhallaAustralia1862–Present

Walhalla is an isolated historic gold mining town tucked deep within a steep mountain valley in Gippsland, Victoria. Founded in 1862 during a rich gold strike, Walhalla rapidly transformed into a bustling boomtown of over 4,000 residents, home to the famous Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine. Following the mine closures in 1914, the town was largely abandoned, turning into a preserved historic ghost town. Famous for its cliffside cemetery holding over 1,100 graves, phantom miners, disembodied cries, and evening ghost tours, it is recognized as one of Victoria's most haunted mountain settlements.
