Hotel Bela Vista
Hotel Bela Vista, perched on the sloped hillside of Penha Hill overlooking the Praia Grande bay, is one of Macao SAR's most iconic colonial structures. Built in 1890 as a grand private mansion, it later operated as a luxury hotel, a British wartime consulate refuge, a school, and a hospital before becoming the Official Residence of the Consul-General of Portugal in Macau. Throughout its multi-century existence, Bela Vista has been surrounded by dark tales of colonial tragedy, wartime secret operations, and ghostly apparitions wandering its expansive wrap-around verandas.
