Toowoomba Prison
Toowoomba Prison, also historically known as the Toowoomba Gaol, was a major colonial correctional facility that operated from 1864 until its official closure in 1903. Located near Queens Park in Toowoomba, Queensland, the site later housed a women's reformatory and guest house before portions were repurposed for community and theater groups. Today, it is famous across Queensland paranormal circles for its preserved subterranean 'dark cell', reports of disembodied screaming, and the lingering spirit of a female reformatory inmate who tragically ended her own life in the upper attic.
