Mea Shearim Quarter
Mea Shearim is one of Jerusalem's oldest Ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods outside the Old City walls. It was built in 1874 as a safe, walled courtyard town. Walking into its small stone lanes and archways feels like stepping back into an old Eastern European town. The district is world famous in ghost lore for Dybbuk spirit stories. Local tales tell of wandering human spirits that linger in old study halls and dark courtyard cellars.
