Government House (House of Culture)
Built in 1814 as the official residence of British Superintendent Governors, Government House is a quintessential colonial wooden mansion on the Belize City seafront. The site where the British flag was lowered and Belize's independence flag raised in 1981, it is famous for spectral colonial governors, phantom piano music, and ghostly ballgoers. The site remains an essential, hauntingly preserved landmark of historic memory, Central American folklore, and paranormal research in Belize.
