Kasbah Tamnougalt
Kasbah Tamnougalt is one of the oldest standing fortified mud-brick kasbahs in the Draa River Valley, situated near the palm oases of Agdz. Built in the sixteenth century as the capital of the Mezguita Berber tribe and later expanded by local caïds, the vast earthen castle features labyrinthine covered alleys, tall watchtowers, and a subterranean river access tunnel. Beyond its impressive Saharan earthen architecture, Tamnougalt is celebrated in southern Moroccan lore for its lingering spirit guardians, mysterious subterranean whispers, and ancient protective talismans.
