Valley of Hinnom (Gehenna)
The Valley of Hinnom, known historically as Gai Ben-Hinnom or Gehenna, is a deep, rocky ravine sweeping around the southern flank of Mount Zion in Jerusalem. Infamous in ancient theology as the literal namesake for Hell, the valley hosted ancient pagan fire rites involving child sacrifice to Moloch during the First Temple period. Lined with ancient rock-cut burial caves, Crusader ossuaries, and Akeldama (the 'Field of Blood'), the valley has earned a legendary reputation for spectral screams, dark shadow entities, and lingering spiritual torment.
