Bungarribee Homestead Site
Bungarribee Homestead Site, located within Western Sydney Parklands in Doonside, is a historically significant archaeological heritage reserve that once housed an iconic 1820s two-storey colonial estate. Built by Major John Campbell in 1822, the mansion possessed a unique brick tower and steep verandas. Despite the physical house being demolished in 1957 by the state government, its reputation as one of Western Sydney's most haunted places has persisted in print since 1938. Visitors to the open parklands report spectral shadow figures, unexplainable cold breezes near the original house footprint, and the lingering, tragic ghost of a colonial woman.
