Aradale Mental Hospital
Aradale Mental Hospital, originally opened in 1865 as the Ararat Lunatic Asylum, is a massive Victorian-era psychiatric complex located in Ararat, Victoria. Spanning over 60 buildings on a sprawling hilltop campus, the institution housed thousands of patients across its 128-year operational history. With an estimated 13,000 deaths recorded on-site, Aradale is considered one of Australia's most haunted locations, famous for eerie physical sensations, phantom footsteps, disembodied voices, and spectral nurses who still patrol the abandoned wards.
