    BeijingChinaLate 20th Century

The Buma Inn, a budget hotel in central Beijing, holds a legendary status in Chinese urban ghostlore and international paranormal travel guides. The hotel's spooky reputation stems from a dramatic urban legend involving a guest who was poisoned by a vengeful chef inside the hotel restaurant. According to local lore, the chef committed suicide shortly afterward, leaving his vengeful spirit behind. Guests staying at the inn report strange nocturnal disturbances, ghostly apparitions, and a lingering sense of dread in its hallways.
