Hôtel des Mille Collines
Hôtel des Mille Collines is a famous four-star hotel situated in central Kigali, globally recognized as the sanctuary depicted in the Hollywood film Hotel Rwanda. Built in 1973 by Belgian airline Sabena, the hotel became an island of refuge during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, sheltering over 1,200 Tutsi and moderate Hutu refugees. Today, beneath its polished modern exterior, guests and staff report intense historical echoes and quiet supernatural encounters near the historic swimming pool and upper residential corridors.
