Jidda Island Prison Ruins
Jidda Island is a rocky, isolated island located west of Bahrain Island near Umm an Nasan. During the 20th century, the island housed Bahrain's most feared penal colony and state prison, where political dissidents, hardened convicts, and forced laborers quarried stone under harsh conditions. Although the prison was decommissioned in the 1970s and transformed into a restricted private royal estate, local mariners speak of chilling cries, disembodied chain clanking, and ghostly figures on the cliffs.
