Pfaueninsel Palace
Pfaueninsel Palace sits on a picturesque nature reserve island in the River Havel in southwestern Berlin. Built in 1794 by King Frederick William II as a romantic summer getaway, the island possesses a much darker seventeenth-century past. Long before the palace arose, the island was home to the secret glass laboratory of alchemist Johannes Kunckel, whose mysterious experiments and fiery death birthed enduring ghost stories.
