Mabira Forest
Mabira Forest in Buikwe District is a vast, ancient tropical rainforest covering over 300 square kilometres between Kampala and Jinja. Protected as a forest reserve since 1932, it is deeply rooted in Buganda spiritual traditions as a sacred sanctuary inhabited by forest spirits, ancient demigods, and restless phantoms. Known for disorienting travelers and spectral encounters, it remains a focal point for dark wilderness tourism.
