Castelinho de São João do Estoril

    CascaisPortugal1890

Castelinho de São João do Estoril (also known as Castelo de São João do Estoril or Palacete de São João) is a striking 19th-century Romantic revival mansion dramatically perched on the rocky Atlantic seaside cliffs of São João do Estoril along the iconic Avenida Marginal road in Cascais, Portugal. Built during the golden age of Estoril's aristocracy as a luxury summer retreat, the small castle is world-famous across Portugal for a haunting tragedy involving a young girl who fell from the sea cliffs to her death while holding a porcelain doll. Left abandoned for decades after prospective buyers repeatedly fled due to terrifying paranormal activity, the mansion stands as one of the Lisbon coastline's most infamous haunted landmarks.

    Chalé Biester

    SintraPortugal1880

Chalé Biester (also known as Palacete Biester or Biester Palace) is a breathtaking 19th-century Romantic Neo-Gothic mansion nestled in the lush pine forests of Sintra, Portugal. Designed by acclaimed Portuguese architect José Luiz Monteiro and built in 1880 for wealthy merchant Ernesto Frederico Biester and his wife Amélia de Freitas, the palace is renowned for its sublime blend of Gothic revival, Art Nouveau, and esoteric decor. Intimately connected to secret societies, Rosicrucian iconography, and Templar mythology, Chalé Biester gained worldwide fame when film director Roman Polanski selected it as a primary filming location for his 1999 supernatural thriller 'The Ninth Gate'. Visitors, staff, and paranormal enthusiasts frequently report sightings of ghostly figures in Victorian attire, lingering organ melodies, spectral shadows in the chapel, and unexplained cold spots near its subterranean secret chambers.
