Dallol Ghost Town
Dallol Ghost Town is an abandoned potash mining settlement situated in the hyper-arid Danakil Depression, one of the hottest and lowest inhabited places on Earth. Built in the early 20th century, the town was deserted as extreme heat, toxic gas vents, and isolation doomed the industrial enterprise. Today, crumbling salt-block houses, rusted machinery, and sulphur chimneys stand silent under scorching heat, giving rise to tales of lost miners and desert phantom spirits.
