    Kota Batu is the ancient, historic stone capital of the Bruneian Empire, dating from the 14th to 17th centuries. Located along the Brunei River, the site contains royal mausoleums (including Sultan Sharif Ali and Sultan Bolkiah), medieval stone wall foundations, and the Brunei National Museum. Steeped in royal ancestral history, centuries of naval siege, and ancient burial grounds, the park is famous for reported ancestral spirits, phantom traditional gamelan music heard at midnight, and glowing blue light orbs near the royal tombs.
