Celebrated globally for its unique beach composed entirely of slick, pitch-black polished volcanic pebbles, the island is equally famous for a powerful ancient curse laid by the guardian deity Chao Pho Tarutao: anyone who removes even a single stone will be haunted by misfortune until the stone is returned.
