Fasilides' Bath
Fasilides' Bath is a majestic 17th-century royal stone pavilion and sunken pool complex built by Emperor Fasilides outside the main fortress walls of Gondar. Framed by massive banyan tree roots wrapping around stone battlements, the complex serves as the central venue for Ethiopia's dramatic Timkat (Epiphany) celebrations. Local lore speaks of phantom swimmers splashing in dry stone basins at midnight and spirit figures haunting the root-strangled walls.
