Monastero di Santa Chiara
The Monastero di Santa Chiara is a historic sixteenth-century convent located within the walled city of San Marino. Originally founded in 1565 to house nuns of the Order of Poor Clares, the monastery operated as a secluded cloister for over four centuries before undergoing extensive restoration. Today, the building serves as the main campus of the University of San Marino. Beneath its restored arcades and historic courtyard, staff, students, and night custodians report encountering the silent specter of a nun in habit, hearing soft organ music echoing from vacant chapels, and experiencing sudden cold drafts in closed corridors.
