Krujë Castle
Perched dramatically on a steep rocky crag overlooking the coastal plain of Albania, Krujë Castle was the legendary epicenter of Albanian national resistance against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century. Led by national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, the castle successfully withstood three major imperial Ottoman sieges. Local tradition tells of phantom battle cries, ghostly clashing of swords, and shadowy medieval figures pacing the ancient watchtower at dusk.
