Fortaleza de Kambambe
Fortaleza de Kambambe (Cambambe Fort) is a 17th-century Portuguese fortress ruin situated on the high east bank of the Kwanza River near Dondo in Cuanza Norte Province. Established in 1604 during the Portuguese search for the legendary silver mines of Cambambe (Minas de Prata), the stronghold saw centuries of fierce battles, slave trading, and abandonment. Today, the overgrown stone ruins are famous for phantom silver miners, disembodied weeping, and eerie lights.
