Steeped in local jumbie lore, the cave's shadowy passages and ancient root cathedral are said to be haunted by ancestral spirits, lost maroons, and mysterious subterranean whispers that echo through the limestone rock.

Known as the 'Rainforest of Anguilla,' this deep basin contains ancient silk cotton trees, hidden cave systems, and the crumbling stone ruins of an 18th-century cotton factory and ginning estate. Operated during the height of colonial agricultural expansion, the factory processed Sea Island cotton harvested by enslaved workers before being abandoned to the encroaching jungle. Imbued with deep cultural reverence, Katouche Valley is regarded in local folklore as a primary domain of Anguillan jumbies, where spectral cotton gin machinery is heard grinding in the silence and phantom plantation workers wander beneath the dense forest canopy.
