Fountain Cavern National Park
Located near Shoal Bay East, Fountain Cavern National Park protects one of the most important pre-Columbian Amerindian ceremonial sites in the entire Caribbean archipelago. Buried 50 feet below ground inside a limestone collapse sinkhole, this subterranean cavern houses two freshwater pools and extraordinary rock carvings left by the indigenous Taíno people between 900 and 1500 AD. The centerpiece of the chamber is a monumental 16-foot tall stalagmite carved into the likeness of Yókahu, the supreme Taíno deity of cassava and creation. Revered for centuries as a portal between the living world and the spirit realm, the cavern is shrouded in deep spiritual mysticism, with visitors and researchers reporting intense energy, ghostly chanting, and ethereal blue glows rising from the underground pools.
