Burg Kreuzenstein
Perched on a forested hill overlooking the Danube River and the Korneuburg plain just north of Vienna, Burg Kreuzenstein is a breathtaking medieval-style castle rebuilt in the 19th century by Count Johann Nepomuk Wilczek. Constructed using authentic architectural fragments salvaged from ruined medieval castles across Europe, the fortress houses one of Austria's largest private weapon collections. Visitors and tour guides report phantom footsteps in the vaulted halls, metallic clashes in the armory, and sightings of a spectral medieval knight guarding the keep.
