Ramana Castle
Ramana Castle is a striking 14th-century stone fortress perched high on a rocky hilltop in Ramana village on the Absheron Peninsula near Baku. Built under the Shirvanshah dynasty as a defensive stronghold, the four-storey quadrangular tower overlooks industrial oil fields and historic village lanes. The castle is haunted by legends of medieval prisoners, secret subterranean escape tunnels, and disembodied footsteps ringing out across its empty stone battlements.
