Shusha Fortress
Shusha Fortress, established in 1751 AD by Panah Ali Khan, is a mountain citadel crowning a steep plateau in the cultural capital of Azerbaijan. Built to defend the Karabakh Khanate against Persian and imperial incursions, the fortress features massive stone walls, circular bastions, and iconic defense gates. Shrouded in centuries of dramatic military conflict and tragedy, the fortress is haunted by legends of fallen defenders, phantom gunfire, and mournful spirits roaming its historic ramparts.
