    Cahal Pech

    San IgnacioBelize1200 BCE - 900 CE

Perched atop a high hilltop overlooking the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, Cahal Pech is one of the oldest Maya elite palatial centers in the Belize River Valley. Renowned for its maze-like residential courtyards, stone platforms, and dark corbel-vaulted rooms, the site is home to recurring ghost stories, spectral shadow figures, and unexplained ancient Maya chants echoing through the silent plaza grounds.

    Xunantunich

    San IgnacioBelize600 CE - 900 CE

Perched atop a high limestone ridge above the scenic Mopan River near the Guatemalan border, Xunantunich is a premier ancient Maya ceremonial center famed for its towering multi-tiered pyramid, El Castillo. Its very name, translating to Stone Woman in the Yucatec Maya language, stems from recurring nineteenth-century and modern apparitions of a luminous female spirit dressed in traditional white huipil attire who vanishes directly into the ancient stone masonry walls.
