Tešanj Castle
Dominating the skyline of the historic town of Tešanj from a dramatic rock promontory above the Tešanjka River valley, Tešanj Castle (Gradina) is one of the largest and most complex fortresses in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Spanning over 6.2 acres, the castle incorporates Illyrian and medieval Bosnian foundations, massive Ottoman artillery bastions, and a prominent clock tower (Sahat-kula). Known for its vast subterranean tunnels, deep dungeon towers, and rich royal heritage, Tešanj Castle is shrouded in dark local legends of captive spirits, secret treasures, and phantom night watchmen.
