Moremi Gorge
Moremi Gorge is a deep, lush canyon cut into the ancient red sandstone cliffs of the Tswapong Hills near Moremi village in Botswana's Central District. Carved by crystal-clear perennial streams that form three cascading waterfalls, the gorge is the most revered sacred ancestral spirit shrine of the Batswapong people. Regarded as the physical dwelling place of the 'Badimo' (ancestral spirits), the gorge is subject to strict traditional taboos prohibiting loud noises, pollution, or unauthorized entry, with visitors frequently experiencing disembodied voices, vanishing paths, and sudden supernatural weather shifts.
