Dyavolski Most
Dyavolski Most, also known as the Devil's Bridge, is an iconic 16th-century Ottoman arch bridge spanning the steep Arda River Gorge in the Rhodope Mountains of southern Bulgaria. Built by master builder Dimitar of Nedelino between 1515 and 1518 upon the foundations of an ancient Roman bridge, the structure is shrouded in folklore involving a pact with the Devil. According to enduring legends, Satan's face becomes visible in the water's reflection under specific daylight angles, while local villagers caution against visiting after sunset due to phantom footprints and disembodied whispers echoing through the gorge.
