Dominating the cliffside skyline of Old Quebec above the St. Lawrence River, Fairmont Le Château Frontenac is arguably the most photographed hotel in the world. Opened in 1893 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, this urban castle stands on the historic site of the St. Louis Forts and Châteaux, the seat of French colonial government in New France. Named in honor of Louis de Buade, Count of Frontenac, the grand hotel has hosted historical summits that shaped World War II, along with royalty, world leaders, and Hollywood stars.
