    The Sai Ying Pun Community Complex, famously dubbed the 'High Street Haunted House' (高街鬼屋), is one of Hong Kong Island's most famous historic and supernatural landmarks. Built in 1892 as nurses' quarters for the Government Civil Hospital, the site later served as an Imperial Japanese execution center during World War II and subsequently as Hong Kong's primary psychiatric asylum. While the building was redeveloped into a modern community center in 2001, its magnificent Grade I historic granite façade and arched verandah were meticulously preserved, keeping alive decades of terrifying ghost stories.
