Despite its serene natural beauty, Bride's Pool is famous throughout Hong Kong for its tragic folklore and dark reputation as a haunted site. Legend tells of a bride in a traditional red sedan chair who drowned in the turbulent waters after one of her porters slipped on a mossy rock. Over the decades, numerous drowning accidents, fatal car crashes along Bride's Pool Road, and ghostly sightings of a bride in red have cemented its place in local lore.

    Tsung Tsai Yuen (Mang Gui Kiu)

    Tsung Tsai Yuen (松仔園), located along Tai Po Road near Tai Po Kau in the New Territories, is infamous as the site of one of Hong Kong's most heart-wrenching natural disasters and haunting legends. On August 28, 1955, a sudden torrential flash flood swept away dozens of picnickers—mostly school children and teachers—who were taking shelter under a concrete bridge. Twenty-eight people drowned in the surging mud waters. The bridge earned the chilling moniker 'Mang Gui Kiu' (Ghost Bridge or Demon Bridge), and stories of spectral children waving from the stream bed have persisted for decades.
