    Nam Koo Terrace

    Wan ChaiChina, Hong Kong SAR1918

Nam Koo Terrace, popularly known as 'The Wan Chai Haunted House,' is a Grade I Historic Building located at No. 55 Ship Street in Wan Chai. Constructed between 1915 and 1918 by a wealthy Shanghainese merchant family, the European-Chinese hybrid mansion was seized during the Japanese occupation in World War II and reportedly served as a military comfort station (military brothel). Stories of abused women, wartime torture, ghostly screams, and unexplained phantom fires have given this red-brick mansion an enduring reputation as one of Hong Kong's most haunted properties.
