Clausholm Castle
Clausholm Castle is one of Denmark’s finest examples of Baroque architecture, famed for its pristine stuccowork, formal terraced gardens, and dramatic royal history. Rebuilt in the late seventeenth century by Grand Chancellor Conrad von Reventlow, the palace became a tragic gilded prison for Queen Anna Sophie Reventlow, who was banished here following the death of King Frederick IV. Today, visitors and estate staff report persistent sightings of the grieving queen and strange, unexplained occurrences within the royal apartments.
