Day Forest National Park
Day Forest National Park, known locally as Forêt de Day, is an ancient relict forest nestled high in the mist-shrouded Goda Mountains of northern Djibouti. Perched at elevations between 1,200 and 1,750 meters above sea level, the park contains ancient African juniper trees, wild olive groves, and giant euphorbias that survive as a green oasis amidst surrounding desert. Deep Afar highland traditions regard the fog-bound forest as a sanctuary of ancient nature spirits and ancestral guardians, where mysterious mountain whispers echo through the ancient moss-covered branches.
