    Kuressaare Castle, also known as Kuressaare Episcopal Castle, is one of the best-preserved medieval fortifications in the Baltic region, located on the island of Saaremaa. Built by the Teutonic Order and bishops of Ösel-Wiek, this formidable late 14th-century late Gothic fortress is famous for the dark legend of the Walled-in Knight whose skeletal remains were unearthed inside a forgotten cellar chamber.
