    Sigatoka River Caves (Naihehe Cave)

    SigatokaFijiPre-colonial (18th–19th century)

Naihehe Cave, located deep within the scenic Sigatoka River Valley in Nadroga-Navosa Province, is Fiji's most famous historic cannibal fortress cave. Used as a subterranean stronghold by pagan hill tribes during the 19th-century tribal wars, the cave preserves a cannibal oven, ritual execution stones, and a sacred chieftain's court. Long shrouded in supernatural fear, the cavern is guarded by powerful ancestral spirits (*vu*).
