Nummela Sanatorium
Nummela Sanatorium, situated in the pine forests of Röykkä village near Lake Sääksi, is Finland’s most famous abandoned medical facility. Built in 1903 as a specialized tuberculosis sanatorium designed by architect Magnus Schjerfbeck, the imposing Art Nouveau complex saw thousands of deaths during the early 20th century, inspiring widespread paranormal reports of phantom patients, weeping on upper balconies, and mysterious light anomalies.
