    Château de Châteaubriant

    ChâteaubriantFrance11th century / 16th century Renaissance

Château de Châteaubriant is a magnificent historic complex in western France, featuring a medieval stone fortress seamlessly merged with a grand Renaissance palace. Deeply embedded within Breton history, the castle is forever associated with the tragic tale of Françoise de Foix, Countess of Châteaubriant and mistress of King Francis I. Every year on the night of October 16th, dark bloodstains mysteriously appear on the floor of the bedchamber where she died, accompanied by spectral ghost processions.
