Osu Castle
Also known as Fort Christiansborg, Osu Castle was built by Denmark-Norway in 1661 on the rocky coast of Accra. Over four centuries, the fortress changed hands between Danish, Portuguese, Akwamu, and British rulers, serving as a primary hub for the transatlantic slave trade and later as the seat of Ghana's national government. Known for its underground dungeon vaults and colonial governance halls, Osu Castle is legendary for spectral sightings of Danish governors, invisible footsteps in administrative corridors, and spirit legends linked to the Akwamu warrior chief Asamani who captured the castle in 1693.
