Esterházy Palace of Fertőd (Esterházy-kastély)
Renowned as the Hungarian Versailles, the Esterházy Palace in Fertőd is Hungary's grandest Rococo palace. Built in the late 18th century by Prince Nikolaus Esterházy, the grand palace served as the home and workplace of famous composer Joseph Haydn for thirty years. Visitors and museum guards report phantom violin music, distant applause, and the spirit of Haydn walking the grand hall.
